Almost Done

We went from Pontevedra to Padron which was about 13 miles.  The weather was hot with a high of 82 and sunny.  A lot of the track was on gravel trails and the first sections had alot of shade - but for the last sections we were in full sun to finish.  We saw some horses today which was very fun and most were white.

We saw more gardens and people working in them.  Some of the gardens were already in full bloom and others were still getting planted.  We saw a husband and wife with the husband using a how to make the holes in the dirt and the wife dropping seed and filling it back in.  We didn’t get any church stamping yesterday and all of them were closed - this was pretty unusual.

We wanted to talk about our morning ritual.  We awake at 7 and get moving pretty quickly.  Dianne stretches and Jack checks the news.  Then we start going thru the steps. Sun screen followed by new skin followed by bandages then tape.  And finally socks which are now mostly filthy but dry.  Dry socks are key.  Jack takes pictures of the hiking book so we don’t have to lug it with us Then you pack up your suitcase and get them ready for pickup by 8 AM. Then we head to breakfast which is usually very good.  Mostly cold except for coffee.  Meat , cheeses , fruits , lots of bread, juices and yogurt.  Dianne brings her own Diet Coke from the room.  After breakfast we go back for our final bathroom break and fill our backpacks with water.  Then we head off for the day of walking.

As we step outside we start up our apps - Jack uses one on his watch and one on his phone.  Dianne uses her watch as anothe reference.  The numbers are never exactly the same at the end of the day and we take the higher one for our walking log.  We are at roughly 305 miles on this Camino.  And we have 15 miles left over the next two days.

We had a wonderful dinner last night but that usual for the Camino.  Great food and great wine and great prople.
