A Busy Day On The Trail
We walked from our Casa up in the hills above Arcade to Pontevedra. We walked down hill from our Casa up in the hills to the Pilgrim Homage monument where we left the trail yesterday. We walked downhill from there to the city of Arcade which was a nice little town. We took a break at a nice cafe then crossed an old stone bridge and headed back up into the hills toward Pontevedra.
Th walk today was full of pilgrims - we estimated at least a thousand on the trail. This was a big change in just the last few days. There were big groups and just lots of people walking. It definitely changed the dynamic of our walk.
We climbed up 500 feet into the hills and took a break for lunch and to change our socks. We do this about half thru each day so our feet don’t start ‘barking’. We topped our then headed back downhill. We went thru a nice valley with pretty trails with vines and horses and pretty scenery. It did warm to 82 by the end of the walk. We finished on a stretch of concrete with cars whizzing by. We just wanted to get it done.
We are in a nice hotel and we had dinner at a local restaurant which specialized in hamburgers. Dianne had chicken and Jack had a hamburger with egg. We had a bowl of French fries which finished off a perfect dinner - and finished off two glassses of tinto wine for each of us. We have a longer day of 14 miles tomorrow but we are Pilgrims and we will get thru it.
Hi pilgrims! We’re sitting at the club having a delicious glass of wine and reading your blog. Your trip sounds enchanting with fabulous views and wonderful memories being made. Enjoy your last days of walking! Todd’s been checking on your pool - it’s fine.
