Another Laundry Day
We stayed Baiona another day so that we could rest and do our laundry. It’s funny how great the smell of clean clothes can be. We slept late this morning and then walked down the alley to get some breakfast. It was the usual cheese with French bread and Jack had a croissant and coffee. Then we went back and loaded up a suitcase with all our dirty laundry and rolled it to a local lavandaria. These are usually very nice places with washers and dryers and palaces to fold your clothes. No waiting today so it went quickly. Then back to our hotel to fold our laundry and put it into the right zippered container. Seems like the clothes get thicker when they are clean since the suitcase is fuller.
Then we took a walk to some local sights followed by lunch at a tapas bar down the alley. The food was good and so was the wine. Then we walked to a large castle nearby and toured the grounds. It overlooked the bay and the ocean and there was a strong breeze.
Then back to our hotel for a break. We caught up on the news and read some books. Jack took a quick tour of the ship named Pinta which is a replica of the boat Christopher Columbus sailed in 1492. It is anchored in Baiona and as a floating museum. It was fun to see how small it was for the roughly 26 sailors who made the voyage. It was the first of the three ships to sight land on their journey,
For dinner we went to a local restaurant and had white asparagus followed by chicken and scallops. Of course Dianne did not have any of the scallops. We finished with chocolate cake. It was a nice relaxing day.
So beautiful by the sea! BUT-Clean clothes while traveling is the most wonderful feeling! Loving your photos!
