In the Wind

We left Porto and headed north.  It was very windy most of the day.  Dianne’s hat went ‘Mary Poppins’ several times and Jack’s flew off once.  The wind beat us up most of the day.

The walk was on pavement the entire 14 miles.  Our paws were barking at the end.  Our balcony door is open and we can still hear the wind howling off the ocean.  We did see some fantastic church’s - big ones and little ones.  We walked past the airport for several miles - runways are actually very long.  We saw a farmer wrapping up round bales of hay using plastic.  It was fun to see how the machine worked.  It wrapped many times then slowly rotated the bale and then continued to wrap.

Along our walk we saw many fields of corn.  We keep seeing the same garden plant with purple flowers but we don’t know what it will yield.  It’s not tomatoes but we keep seeing it in many gardens.

Lots of cobblestones.  We passed a mall but didn’t stop to shop. We had a nice dinner very close to our hotel but the wind was still howling there and back.  We will leave the balcony door cracked but it’s nice to get fresh air on the 4th floor.

Tomorrow our walk begins close to the ocean as we head north.

  3. You two are my enviable heroes! I have so enjoyed reading your tales of adventure and cultural and architectural beauty. Your time in Porto looked wonderful as it is our favorite city in Portugal (a close near-tie with Lisbon). We had not seen the "Camino Marker" that you photographed and walked by and peered-in Lalao as the lines were too long even with a reservation. Once the blue-white ceramic tile in Porto gorgeous, especially in the train station? Enjoy your adventure and thank you for letting us vicariously "hop-on" through your insightful posts.
