Last Full Day In Portugal

We left Viana Do Castelo and headed out to Vila Praia De Ancora.  It felt like walking in Spain.  We spent time on old Roman roads and crossed several stream on ancient bridges.  We walked a lot of time in suburbs that had amazing views of the ocean.  The woodland tracts were very nice and connected  the small villages.

We saw a ton of little churches and water fountains from ancient times.  Today everyone has water in the house but 100 years ago they walked to the local water fountain to fill their buckets and take them back home.  The local water fountain also was usually the lavandaria where people did their laundry.  The big tubs had angles stones along the sides where people used to wash their clothes.  The lavandarias still exist but are no longer used.

It was a lovely day and we finished at a 4 star hotel in the small village.  Dinner was down on the water but protected from the wind.  As usual the food was wonderful and we went back and slept well.
