Nice Day On The Camino

We started the day in an old mansion with a winderful breakfast.  We started out with overcast skies and a threat of rain that never materialized. The route today was very uneven with small villages that all had small churches. We saw many gardens along the way with different crops.  There were many grape vines with some olive groves.

We met a nice lady from Sweden who is finishing her Camino walk in Porto and then returning in August with her daugher to finish in Santiago.  We talked about walking the Camino and agreed it was different for everyone.  She is staying in Auberge’s and having trouble since they were sometimes full. Having to walk 8 more kilometers to find a bed can be tough.  She hiked 8 days last year on the French way and knew she had to do it again.  It was find to talk to her a lot her experiences.

A lot of the walking today was on country lanes but very little forest. There was some Roman roads but mostly asphalt.  We didn’t walk a long ways today so got into Agueda about 2 Pm.  It was nice to have a shorter day.  Tomorrow we only walk about 11 miles so also a little shorter. The weather is looking nice with highs in the 70s for the next 10 days.  Should be nice in Porto.

  1. So funny to read that you two view an eleven mile walk as “short!”
