Short Day On The Camino
We returned to Oliveira de Azeris in a taxi to complete our 19 mile walk to Medeira. It was a beautiful day with great weather as we get closer to the coast. We had a little fog to start. We walked on Roman roads thru several smaller villages. Early on we went thru an industrial area but the rest was mostly roads.
It was a pretty quiet walk with some walkers headed to Fatima for the May 13th celebration. We didn’t know anything about Fatima before we arrived but now we do. Fatima us know for the apparitions shown to three young children in 1917. We believe she appeared several times and the church verifies the sightings and declared a holy day. Thousands of people each year walk to Fatima for this blessed event.
We had a wonderful dinner in a family restaurant. We were seated in the back room with the family sitting nearby. The food was wonderful and the desserts were very special. We had a carafe of local red wine that was very nice. Tomorrow we walk into Porto!
